The Rose and Poppy operates as a café in the heart of Fareham, located conveniently on Stubbington Green. It’s an inviting spot where locals seem to drop by whether passing through on a cycle ride or settling in for an extended catch-up over lunch or afternoon treats. The atmosphere strikes a balance between casual and lively, often enhanced by outdoor seating that blossoms into a relaxed haven especially on sunny days.

Visitors here find a variety of well-crafted food options, from brunch staples such as bacon sandwiches and toasted bread with preserves, to more substantial platters that cater to diverse tastes, including vegetarian and traditional comfort fare. The café’s menu also leans into fresh, approachable ingredients showcased in dishes like coconut shrimp and large pork roast, while sweet touches come courtesy of coffee cake and locally sourced Jude’s ice creams—offering a pleasant variety for those wanting a light, refreshing finish.

The Rose and Poppy regularly draws a mix of people: from families sharing gluten-free afternoon teas that are thoughtfully prepared to accommodate dietary needs, to groups enjoying cheese and charcuterie platters paired with wines or ales during early evening visits. The staff’s friendly and attentive nature adds to its pull, creating a welcoming backdrop whether you’re there for a quiet coffee or a sociable evening with friends.

Beyond the food and drink, the venue also hosts entertainment such as comedy nights and live music, turning the space into a local social hub on certain nights without losing its casual café vibe during the day. This mix of daytime calm and evening buzz makes it a place that fits comfortably within the neighborhood’s rhythm.

Considering all this, The Rose and Poppy is well suited for those who appreciate a versatile café experience: ideal for a laid-back brunch, an easy afternoon tea in the sunshine, or a lively night out with simple yet satisfying food and a convivial atmosphere. Best times to visit would be during daylight for a relaxed sit-down or early evening if you’re looking to combine great bites with local entertainment.

Having just moved to the area I shared a wonderful Gluten free afternoon tea outside in the beautiful sunshine with my daughter recently. As we are both Coeliacs it is rare to enjoy such lovely treats safely especially right on my doorstep. The food was all very fresh and delicious and neither of us could fault it. There were more than enough options for cakes and sandwiches and we took some away as was full! I am always very impressed with the service and note they always stop the kitchen to prepare food safely. I would highly recommend and look forward to trying more special events there and plenty more Sunday breakfasts! Many thanks guys Sarah and Rachael

Wow!!! Great food, Great Ales & amazing atmosphere. Went for a couple of drinks with some pals & they recommended here. Decided we’d get the large Cheese Charcuterie & wine which was; 1, large enough for all of us. 2, amazing value & 3, great selection of meats, cheese & accompaniments. Well done Rose & Poppy Team. We Will be back tomorrow for the live music! Keep up the good work.
